Me, I was good for an “Electric Slide” (probably the most well-known line dance ever) but couldn’t seem to “pick-it-up” like shecould. That changed when one of our neighbors at Cresswind started an informal class to “teach” line dancing.

We signed up, found something we could share together… and I finally began to learn how to do this.

After a couple of years our class had grown to a nice size, but…. as our community continued to grow we discovered that folks who wanted to learn were intimidated by the types of dances we were doing after 2 ½ years. 

Diana and I saw an opportunity to start a beginner’s class, which quickly ballooned into two classes. Today we continue to teach Introductory Beginner (1) and Advanced Beginner (2) classes on a bi-weekly basis, while continuing to attend and occasionally help teach our original dance group, now called our Intermediate class (3). 

This has been a great source of fun and personal growth for the two of us and something we hope to continue for many years to come.

Background: We live in Cresswind Charlotte, near Mint Hill, NC. We have two grown children – a daughter who lives close by and a son who lives in San Diego, CA.

In 2016 with the kids out of the house and anticipating retirement, we elected to move to

North Carolina wanting a climate that had more to offer than the 2 seasons found in Orlando, FL. 

I was able to work remotely the final 3 years of my professional life with Lockheed Martin before retiring in 2019. Diana and I are high school sweethearts and are celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary in 2025.
