So many things in life fall into the category.

 

It is why we make New’s Year’s Resolutions - and then make the same one again the following year. We never really believe we can do it.

 

We have to believe in ourselves to make a change. Any change.


And

 

We have to get through the fear.

 

Most of us have fear and don’t realize that fear is what is really holding us back from achieving our goals.

 

One of my fears after my health issues was all about working out. 

 

Why?

 

I was a law enforcement officer. I was suppose to be in great shape already. My agency had a yearly physical fitness test I had to pass.

 

Between a stroke (or three- whose really counting) my inactivity and vertigo had caused my hip to start to freeze up. 

 

Walking up an incline was almost impossible due to the pain. How was I going to pass the annual Fit for Duty tests?


With perseverance.


And Belief.

 

I took it slow. Many of you have heard me say this - slow and steady wins the race. It gets us where we need to be when we need to be there. NOT necessarily we we WANT to be there.

Fitness for those of us over 50 is not for the faint-hearted. Returning to the gym, working out, attending group fitness classes are require us to believe we can do it.

Move through the fear.

Even if the first class is just showing up and going slowly through the movements we think we can do.

Every time we show up, we are developing a fantastic habit.

PERSEVERANCE

We are moving toward our goals.

Healthier, stronger, more energy, less pain.

We can be all of these things. 

 

And so much more.

We just need belief and courage.
